Boulder
The Boulder area has over 200 miles of a combination of paved and unpaved trails. The trail system is in central Boulder is based around Boulder Creek and its six tributaries. The trail system provides an opportunity to enjoy Boulder from a unique perspective, and to have the chance to see a variety of wildlife! Further out of Boulder trails cross wonderful rolling countryside – Eagle Trail, Foothills, and Wonderland Lake are just three examples that we enjoy. You may cross paths with anyone from an Olympic athlete to a casual jogger. Chautaqua Park is a historic site that has an extensive trail network at the base of the Flatirons. Magnolia Road is a world famous training venue. Trails vary in difficulty between gently undulating to very challenging!
Estes Park
The trail system around Estes Park has been extended significantly over the last 20 years. The River walk takes you through the heart of town and can get congested during the peak summer months. Lake Estes trail is a mostly level, paved trail that winds it's way around the 3.7 miles Lake Estes. Excellent for reps and tempo running! Fish Creek trail and Fall River trail also provide opportunities to run on paved trails while enjoying fantastic mountain views.
Rocky Mountain National Park / Roosevelt National Forest
Active at altitude is ideally situated just 15 minutes drive from the wonderful Rocky Mountain National Park. There are 355 miles of trails of varying types in the Park, providing some breathtaking scenery (the Continental divide, lakes and waterfalls) while doing what you like best!
Roosevelt National Forest also has many miles of dedicated trails that vary from easy to very challenging. There are many trailheads accessible with roadside parking, some with toilets or rest rooms. Some cross historic meadows with restored homesteads.
