| Road Cycling
Active at Altitude provides a base from which to enjoy some of the best roads for cycling anywhere in the world.
The area is filled with an abundance of roads that are a mecca for thousands of road cyclists from all over the world. Perhaps the most famous is the Trail Ridge Road that runs through the centre of Rocky Mountain National Park. It is the highest continuous paved road in the US, rising to an elevation of 12,183 feet above sea level. It is not just a great workout but also provides the most spectacular scenery and a chance to see some of the wildlife abundant in the Park.
The US Highway 36 between Estes Park and Boulder is also a hugely popular route for road cyclists. A variety of challenging uphill sections and swooping down hills take you from 8,000 feet down to 5,000 feet above sea level.
Many roads in the area have generous amounts of marked shoulder room for cyclists. There are also frequent reminder signs for car drivers to share the road with cyclists – this is a great idea for road biking!
Active at Altitude also has a covered and lit workshop area for maintenance if required. Storage for your bike is also available.
