| Hiking
Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest and the Boulder area trails provide fantastic opportunities for walkers of all abilities.
All the trails are available to hikers; some are designated as foot trails only – check with us if you need further information. Although it should be common sense, many hikers end up having to be rescued each year. Take basic precautions, make sure you have more than enough food and drink for your planned route. Use a map or trail guide and take a compass with you. Remember that ultraviolet radiation is much higher at altitude than at sea level, use a sunscreen with an SPF rating of >28.
Most thunderstorms occur in the mid to late afternoon and can arrive quickly. Check weather forecast before you go out and plan hikes for earlier in the day. If you are caught above the tree-line in a lighting storm, move down to cover as quickly as possible.
